I am a comittee member of a kayak club at Dukes Mound. Would there be any interest in placing a hotspot there? We have an existing phoneline but I  think its reasonably difficult to get other telecomms lines in there.....

Your a long away down from the existing network, at present I doubt we'd get a link to Audio or the fishing museam. If we can see either node we might be in luck, but range wise its a bit far.

I've heard stories about the Marina's weird antique exchange, your probably part of that. Let me ask Alex and Richard at moving Edge tommorrow. Your about oposite the Banjo Groin arn't you? On the bright side, ADSL just runs down telephone wires.

I'm going to a therapy? gig at the Concord 2 tomorrow night I'll remind myself of the layout.

Tom,

T? at the Concorde. Will be there, they totally rocked 2-3 years back! Last few tours we've had to settle with London or Portsmouth.

Know you can get line-of-sight extenders to cover 1 mile+. The key would be to get something on the pier? And then you could triangulate length of sea-front? And we are by the Banjo.

ADSL a possibility. But budgets are low for this sort of thing in a Kayak club.

I'll keep my eye out. I'm hairy and 6'4' wearing a "Heavy F***ing metal" t-Shirt, not that that will make me stand out much I suspect. I too saw tem last time, thats were I go the T-Shirt.

I know the feeling, I'm ex-sailing club committee my self. Thats kind of why we got involved. It would be very nice if we are in range of the current net. My target sight would be the Sea Life Centre. which would do nicely.

Been speaking to the guys at the new beach sports centre on the beach, http://www.yellowave.co.uk/  They're interested in becoming part of the pier-to-pier network.  As a new venture I doubt they're willing to invest much money in it but would host and power a node.  Apparently, "have you got wifi?" is the most common question they get at the moment.  Would you get a link from Audio?

If they were linked up it might then be possible to extend it down to the kayak club.

Cheers,
Tobin (another kayak club member)
