Hi Neil, That's a great idea, and we'd love to do it. Like the wind sensor, it'd provide useful information for Brighton's sailing and windsurfing community - you'd be able to check the sea state before leaving home. All we need is for someone to donate one! Santa, are you listening? :) Keep up the great work. Thankyou; and yes, we will keep it up. We've got some interesting stuff planned for the next twelve months! thanks, alec

Hmm... what format of camera do you need? i have an older one that connects with Parallel and a Keyboard Cable here. its a Quickcam. http://www.ultravideo.com/images/quickcam.GIF I also have an Intel USB camera here somewhere that i used with my fish tank. But they have passed away long ago and i do not really use it. Just let me know what one would work for you guys. I would ship it over but i am going to be in the country in about a week or so. i could just being it along. -neil

I've got some webcam's that I know don't work Both USB ov11 chipset.
Would be glad to get hold of one that does. I know stv680 chipset works and apparently trust spycams do but am unsure which others. Any how am definatly gong to have one up on the beach by the spring! If we could borrow/use one of yours we'd be very happy!

Hi Neil, The QuickCam might work (although I'm not holding my breath!). The MeshAP software that we're using utilises the Camserv streaming software. On the Camserv homepage, it says that the "the old colour quickcams" have been tested - don't know if yours falls into that category or not! The Intel camera may also work - it'd be a case of suck-it-and-see! :) i am going to be in the country in about a week or so. i could just bring it along. That's very generous of you! Which part of the UK are you visiting? thanks very much, alec

I found the Quickcam here today. Hopefully it works for you guys. I will be in England on Jan 2nd depending on flight delays. There is WiFi at the Detroit airport where i have a 6 hour lay-over. I am packing up the Notebook, Digital Camera and my Ipod. Hopefully the camera works. It is older so there should be some drivers out there for other Operating Systems. The Windows Driver cd got some legs and walked out of my apartment. but i am sure there are drivers on the internet. I will be staying in brighton. about 5 blocks north of the beach. So i am sure i will be visiting PiertoPier alot. But i am sure i will be going up to london to visit alot. We should meet up and Get some food or something then i can hook you up with the web cam. Just give me a day to two to recover from the Jetlag. Hopefully i will be able to keep in tough with you when i am out there. I will be there till about Jan 10th. so if you are busy for the first few days i will be around. Fell free to e-mail me at Neilcohen35@hotmail.com if you have any more questions. Thanks again -neil

Hi Neil, It'd be good to meet up - I'll drop you an email when I'm back in work on Monday. I will be staying in brighton. about 5 blocks north of the beach. Perhaps a little out of range (for the time being! :) ). Let us know how you get on using the service! Hope to see you, alec

Yeah Yeah I know.
I'm a sailor as well. RS600 and I14 down the beach. Windsensor is pretty Naffed I think. 4 years of rusting in a hut. Was inclined to give of very unreliable readings anyway.
The Webcam should work. It did when node one was working, I'm hoping when/If node 1 goes back up then it may work again.
By the way we've been running PierToPier.net for a while now. Most of the Team have moved on, or moved away or had kids. I've got other things, generally speaking if you want to take things over or set up your own stuff. We'd be morethan happy to let you lose.
